Akple with pepper and adzoatoe(Ketasco boys)

Akple can be served with different soups and stews but there is a kind of small fish that goes well with akple(eworkple) or banku when fried and put in a ground pepper. This fish is called in Ewe as adzoatoe and in English as anchovies but popularly known as Ketasco boys and normally after it is harvested from the river or sea, it is dried before it is sold but sometimes fresh. It is some kind of fish that is easy to buy anywhere and with just a small amount, you can eat your akple or banku with great feeling. 


The akple will be served with pepper so what do we need? Fresh pepper, onion, fresh tomatoes, anchovies or Ketasco boys(adzoatoe).

Wash the anchovies very well and then fry them with any oil. Fry with caution so that it fries well. After frying it and everything is set, either grind the fresh pepper, onion, and fresh tomatoes in a grinding bowl or blend in a blender. Get the ground pepper on a plate and mix the fried anchovies with it, cut some onions and fresh tomatoes on it and enjoy with akple or banku.

This fried Ketasco boys can also be used to prepare stew that moves well with akple, rice and other foods like boiled or fried yam, potato, plantain, etc. All you need to do is to fry your anchovies ready and then prepare your stew. As the stew is well cooked, add some amount of water to it and then add the fried anchovies. Allow to simmer very well and I tell you it will be a nice and deliciously prepared stew that can be served with the earlier stated foods and other kinds of foods.

Using anchovies for stew is also a very wonderful experience in food deals. Just follow the procedures that are not even difficult to go by and you will have your stew specially prepared for your banku.
