The elderly mostly speak in words known as parables or proverbs which in the Ewe language are called LODODOWO . It is a term that refers to statements, sayings, and expressions whose meaning differs from the literal meaning or translation of the statements. At times, the use of these shows how mature a person is in the knowledge of his or her cultural background.
