Here inside include:

The culture of Ghanaians.

Sites of attraction.

Festivals etc.

A culture known everywhere is the way of life of a group of people. Ghana formerly had (10) ten regions but now new ones have been created in 2020 making the number of regions to be sixteen (16). They are;

  1. Ashanti Region - Kumasi
  2. Greater Accra - Accra
  3. Bono Region - Sunyani
  4. Bono East Region - Techiman
  5. Central Region - Cape Coast
  6. Ahafo Region - Goaso
  7. Eastern Region - Koforidua
  8. Northern Region - Tamale
  9. Savannah Region - Damongo
  10. North East Region - Nalerigu
  11. Upper East Region - Bolgatanga
  12. Upper West Region - Wa
  13. Volta Region - Ho
  14. Oti Region - Dambai
  15. Western Region - Takoradi
  16. Western North Region - Wiawso
Volta Region is one of these regions and it is close to Togo and the language spoken in this region is Ewe. The occupations of the people include farming, trading, fishing, and other artistic engagements. Have you heard of KENTE? Kente weaving is an occupation the Ewes are well known for and parents train their children at a very young age because it is a work that feeds a lot of households once you know how to go about it. These cloths are specially woven through the use of threads made from cotton, silk and other raw materials and the cloths which can be of different colours for specific designs are collated and stretched into a loom before they are woven. The loom is the system in which the collated threads are stretched for weaving.

A weaver sits inside the loom and weaves using his creativity and the woven cloths are then measured, cut and sewn together into a whole cloth. These cloths are used for different purposes like festivals, funerals, naming ceremonies, and many other significant occasions. Due to the designs that the cloths come with, they are very valuable in which case people come from Cote d' Ivoire, Togo, and other countries outside Ghana to acquire these cloths. Other crafts like basketry, bead making, ceramic wares production, sculpture etc are not left out. There is also one major business which is a shoe making that has gained fame in this region and other regions as well. Recycling of old tyres into sandals that are very strong is something worth exploring.

This type of kente is normally used by women for naming ceremonies and festivals

Northern and Ashanti Region also share a kind of cultural relation with the Ewes and this is specifically in relation to the weaving of cloths in which the process and the designs is a little bit related but not fully the same thing. The people of the north weave cloths that they use mostly for sewing their popular gown called 'betekari'.

Ashanti's too have many kinds of creatively woven kente cloths that are very expensive in terms of value that they are normally used by the chiefs and queen mothers. The prestige of these cloths are just so amazing and profound.

Diverse tastes of foods is also an identifiable feature of the country Ghana. Among the Ewes, is the food called akple or banku and I believe this food has gone far due to its special taste, benefits and constituents. Among the Ashanti's is fufu, a food that holds so great a taste that it is absolutely difficult to kill the appepite its scent induces. Fufu is among one of the foods that different regions and people have adopted to be part of their foods. It has become business for many people who operate restaurants, hotels, eating bars just because the populace love it.

Sites of attraction worth exploring

Mount Afadja is in the Volta Region of Ghana and it is one of the places visitors from different locations love to visit. The mountain has a height of 885 metres (2,904 ft) above sea level. It can either be called Afadjato or Mount Afadja because in the Ewe language, 'to' means 'mountain' hence as you use 'mountain', 'to' must not be added to the 'Afadja'. It's a wonderful experience when pupils and students go on excursion to this place and even foreigners troope in to this place to enjoy the atmosphere there and as well climb this tall mountain.

I have only been reading about Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi zoo and Kejetia market but in the year 2022, I had the privilege to visit these places and I do not regret the move at all. Interesting enough, these three places are not far from one another. Kejetia market is such an ultra modern market space where you will see the complexity of a sales arena with many activities going on. So many selling and buying with heavy human movements and vehicular traffic likewise. Just about 3mins walk from Kejetia market and you at the Kumasi zoo. Our there are animals like tiger, lion, python, monkey, eagle, grasscutter, giant tortoise, catfish, ostrich, peacock, deer, donkey, camel, duck, vulture etc. once anyone visits this you, an experience is shared because the atmosphere creates some kind of feeling.

Festivals
Every culture in the country is so unique in making such that they attract our interests to experience what they really are. The people of the Volta Region celebrate festivals like Tedudu, Hogbetsotso, Galiza etc. but the topmost of all these festivals is the Hogbetsotso festival celebrated on the first Saturday of the month November every year at Anloga. This festival is celebrated to remember how the forefathers of the people escaped cruel rulership of a wicked king called Torgbui Agorkorli. The festivals attracts visitors from many parts of the country and presidents of the republic are normally the guest of honor to grace the occasion. Many cultural practices are displayed at this august occasion.
