Image
Gari is a very popular food made from cassava. It is one kind of food that is widely known in the sense that even in countries like Nigeria, Togo and all over Ghana in addition to other nations it can be found. From the fresh cassava, gari is made and because it lasts longer, it travels long distances without getting wasted. In parts of the country where their main occupation is farming, gari is produced from there in large quantities and sent to the cities for sales. Here in Ghana, a variety of foods are prepared from gari. Cooked food vendors like wakye sellers, rice sellers and the famous gob3 sellers always have it to serve customers who love it in their meals. You can talk about the gari soakings, gari fortor, gariba and a lot more. Anytime students are going to boarding or even lodge in a hostel as they pursue their education, one food inevitable is gari. What will you remember about the year 2023?

Image
The year 2023 has been a year with many happenings both positive and negative alike. For some, it is a year of fulfilment where set goals were achieved whilst others it is the beginning of greater achievements or the setting up of foundations. However it is described, one thing everyone gives thanks for the most is the gift of life. As the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 9:4, ( Anyone who is among the living has hope - even a live dog is better off than a dead lion ). Gratitude must be given to God for His protection throughout the year in all things. Regardless of how events turned out, there is still a cause to give gratitude to the Giver of all good things. Global There were a number of events that unfolded in 2023 globally of which some were positive occurrences and others too the other way. Talk of the wars, natural disasters, hunger in some parts of the world, etc. Some of the events resulted in the death of many humans and Ghana's Christian Atsu also lost his life due to an eart...

SOMETUTUZA - A festival celebrated by the people of Some

Image
The history of the Ewes is a one that holds very interesting lessons and facts which up to this day continues to teach many lessons. As history recounts, the cruel treatment of Torgbui Agorkorli forced the mothers and fathers of the land to flee to their current locations. A part of the Ewes called Someawo have their settlement in Agbozume and her neighboring towns and villages.   Sometutuza is a festival particularly celebrated by the people of Some in the town of Agbozume and her associated communities. As in every other festival, the motive is to use moments of such a prestigious celebration to foster unity and developmental projects in the community. It has been almost two decades that this festival has not been celebrated due to some issues. Nonetheless, the chiefs and the people identified how pivotal the celebration is in the development of the community and so decided to make it happen again. The members of the community were also very much excited and welcomed ...

Foods I surprisingly came across in Kumasi. The whole story

Image
Kumasi, the second largest city in Ghana also called Kumerica is a very wonderful place to be based on many factors. First of all, saying Kumasi is a city describes how busy the region can be with all sorts of business activities. At some place like Kejetia market, the place is busy 24/7 with commercial activities such that at times sales in the evening is even more vibrant than daytime. It looks a bit exaggerated but it is the reality of what it is. It is a place you would want to visit and also tell your own version of the story after witnessing for yourself what the city holds.  Well, definitely, once you are at someplace, the foods of that town have to be tried because you definitely might not find all your local hometown meals there and even if there are some, not how you want them. The year 2023 has almost ended and coming 2024, you can look out for the foods you will find in this comprehensive writing and try them out for yourself. ETOR The first time I tried this fo...
