What will you remember about the year 2023?

The year 2023 has been a year with many happenings both positive and negative alike. For some, it is a year of fulfilment where set goals were achieved whilst others it is the beginning of greater achievements or the setting up of foundations. However it is described, one thing everyone gives thanks for the most is the gift of life. As the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 9:4, (Anyone who is among the living has hope - even a live dog is better off than a dead lion). Gratitude must be given to God for His protection throughout the year in all things. Regardless of how events turned out, there is still a cause to give gratitude to the Giver of all good things.

Global

There were a number of events that unfolded in 2023 globally of which some were positive occurrences and others too the other way. Talk of the wars, natural disasters, hunger in some parts of the world, etc. Some of the events resulted in the death of many humans and Ghana's Christian Atsu also lost his life due to an earthquake. Al Jazeera report stated that Atsu died in an earthquake that happened in Turkey on February 6th 2023 and more than 54,000 were killed. 2019 also remains one of the historic years in this generation because the novel Corona Virus wreaked havoc that experts were taken by fright regarding how serious the issue was.

The year also experienced wars in some parts of the world and one of such is the war between Israel and Hamas. The lives lost, people injured, people displaced are plenty and it is a sad event. However, people are on their knees seeking mercy so that peace will reign because it is what is needed in moments like that.

COP 28, the 28th annual United Nations meeting on climate was held in Dubai from 30th November, 2023 - 12th December, 2023. Many participants were there from countries all over the world and presidents from different countries were there. Several discussions were made from net-zero to clean cooking and a lot more about sustainable practices that will help keep the Earth from global warming and the impact of climate change.

You cannot talk about global issues without the mention of inflation because it is pivotal in decision-making and budget drawing of countries worldwide.

Ghana

The prestigious National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) was a success with Presec Legon winning the trophy again for the 8th consecutive time. It was a whole learning process for the participants and all who played a role in ensuring that it turned out well. 

Some parts of the country experienced flood that displaced many. Akosombo dam spillage caused flooding in some ares in the North Tongu of the Volta Region but concerned organizations and individuals from the country offered and are still sending their aids to the victims. The member of parliament for the region is doing a great job to make sure his constituents are well served in such a situation.

Influencers of new year resolutions

The standard of living at any point in time is what determines how good a year is for some and it is a global thing. A very popular saying goes that "A person can't do thing the same way and expert different results". Truth be told, differentiation appears when there is variability at work.
