Spider lived in a village with his wife and children. He and the family owns a farm but spider was one greedy animal that always wanted everything for himself. Even though he had children and a wife, taking care of the family was a difficult task for him. During the rainy season, the family of spider farmed to have food because farming was the occupation for survival in those days.

They lived in a village called Kopa and the inhabitants of the village knew how selfish and greedy spider was. Anytime the family plants crops and they were mature, spider finds a way of going to the farm in the evening to harvest some of the crops and eat without the knowledge of the family. He was doing this so he could eat more than anyone else in the house. A time came when he gathered his family and told them that when he dies, he should be buried in the farm.

He told them to put cooking utensils in his coffin and when he is buried, the hole should not be covered with sand but left bare. A time came when their crops were very mature and he pretended to have died. The wife and some community members gathered and buried him as he directed. Every evening, Spider moves from his coffin to harvest some crops, cook and enjoy. Anytime the wife and children go to the farm, they detect some crops stolen. As this persisted they decided to know who was doing this.

One night, the wife and children hid somewhere in the farm and to their surprise, spider came to harvest some crops as usual for his meal. The children and wife got surprised and shouted as they moved hurriedly towards spider to beat him up. They beat him very well and he ran as fled. As he didn’t know where to hide to escaped the fatal beatings, he climbed up to the corner of their room and hid there.
