This year's edition of the KNUST Food Festival marks the 6th edition and it was held on the 16th of February, 2024 at the Royal Parade Grounds, KNUST. The celebration of this food festival is to help food manufacturers who are around or even outside the university community showcase their various innovations to the public in terms of food and related products. It also creates an avenue for vendors to sell their products and this year's edition was great and awesome.
The celebration was not only centred on food but also brought various professionals in academia and other practitioners as far as food safety and hygiene are concerned to participate and share some of their experiences as well as advice to all who were around. At least three secondary schools nearby the school came to also participate and as the main agenda is food, the Food Science Department of KNUST had maximum representation at the event. Different activities were performed to keep the place very exciting and some of these included poetry, music and dance etc.
Exchange students in Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology were not left out at all as they brought their homeland foods to exhibit and they also had the opportunity to try some of the local dishes and food innovations on display at the event.
In fact foods like waakye, plantain chips, chips, atsomor, banku, etor, kelewele and more were available and drinks like Yo Fresh, sobolo, mashed kenkey, asana were also not left out.
Definitely, the celebration has left a memory on the minds of those who made it to the event. A food competition was done with amazing prices given to the contestants and the students around most especially had the chance to taste the foods prepared by the contestants.

Agbemasu Xorlali Yao, was also at the event to sell his product which is a snack made from corn flour. The product is called CRUNCHY STICKS. After the event, he made some sales and also talked about how he was exposed to different kinds of people who gave their recommendations and views about his product which keeps him on his toes to refine and make the product the best. He believes that as this product is a locally innovated one from Ghana which he has modified to fit different markets, everyone who patronizes it takes a step towards propelling the Ghanaian culture. At this event, I saw a product made from mushroom and some cereals which can be used to prepare porridge and it was called MUSHBROWN. In fact a lot of amazing foods were around. One vendor called Kelewele man had this special kelewele that he mixes with sausage and meat. The innovations were just absolutely amazing and worth trying for oneself.
