What is attachment in academia?

Clearly, every program of study has a practice to it which every learner has to understand and be proficient in but unfortunately, due to limited time, all of these can't be done within the duration of the academic period. For this reason, some schools enforce compulsory internships or industrial attachments with the intention that their students can become well-trained professionals who will make an impact wherever they are to serve whether in their native countries or internationally.
