Do you listen to radio? These will tell you why you must

Radio

Before the advancement of technology and the media, being able to transmit information from one person to another was a hectic task, and many share stories of how their great grandparents had to walk many miles to do so. The challenges faced by humans day in and day out always necessitate solutions because when these challenges get solved, life becomes better.

Radio is one device I developed so much love for when I was very young and I will be sharing a lot more of my experiences with radio which will excite you and be of significant benefit to you. Historians from Ghana share their experiences when radio became the only means of information access after many years of none because at that time technology hadn't advanced. According to the history of Ghana, anytime there was a coup or an attempt in that regard, the citizens got to know through the radio as well as many other major events that occurred at the national capital. One thing was serious which is because the device was not really common, to listen to the national broadcast of news a person had to go stand by a house where there was one to listen to the news. It was that serious but now radio is on the smartphones, satellite dishes for televisions and it is so wonderful a thing as compared to the past.

In the early 2000s when many parts of the country Ghana lacked electricity, those who owned radio powered it using batteries sold in the market and some selected stalls. You can talk about the news, football matches, and some contents were all transmitted to the public with the aid of the radio.

Personal encounters with radio

Even as young as I was in the primary, the only device we grew to know was the radio and there was something actually special about this device that might be difficult to explain. Our school by name Prince of Peace was very particular about the wholistic development of her pupils so we were trained in poem recitations, plays, music, and a whole lot. A radio station in the Volta Region by the name Jubilee Radio 106.9 is a prominent radio station we listened to and it hosted a program where young pupils get the stage to share their talent. I can't forget that day we went to the station and did poem recitations, played, acted a play, sang hymns and it was an awesome feeling in there. My pappy had a small radio he listened to for the news and anytime he left the radio a bit, I made sure it was by my side for me to also listen to. At a point when he was traveling, I was given this radio and it slept by me every day. The radio can be that device that opens the mind of a young person in many ways that can amaze any person how impactful the outcome can be even if not in the short term.

3 REASONS WHY YOU MUST LISTEN TO THE RADIO

Authentic source of information

It was earlier mentioned that one of the means of the media for information dissemination is the radio and apparently, it is going to be difficult to live peacefully as a human without any form of information circulating around a person. The 6:00pm, 6:00am news on Joy FM in Ghana and the 12:00pm news helped many citizens to be aware of happenings in the country. Talk of the football matches especially Ghana football, election results, and more which everyone wants to be aware of. This becomes the most reliable place to access these information because they go to the ground for up to date happenings of particular events.
Before the emergence of the black and white television, we had to sit by the radio to listen to the commentary of a live football match especially when our country is playing because that was the only way to know how far the game was going.

Means of learning and motivation

Learning is an everyday thing that happens anywhere without us knowing even sometimes because the process occurs so quick and at times goes unnoticed. Some people who became great in society can tell of the fact how they became motivated by the people they heard either being guests or hosts for major programs on the radio which is a very impactful mark of the radio. Soul-inspiring and Spirit-filled songs played on the radio provide encouragement for the one who is down in hope and fearful of what might be the next step.

Easy access to God's Word

All over the country, very early in the morning and at dawn there is a prayer and the Word programs for ministers of God to share the gospel, pray and even minister in songs. Many listeners give remarkable testimonies of healing, deliverance, miracles and more by listening to these programs and it is a thing to be grasped despite the fact that there is television, and even easy access to videos on the phone.

Do you know businesses also get customers through radio advertisements?
There is a set of people who also love listening to the radio very much and these are traders in the markets. As they sell and listen to some programs that give them motivation and excitement, they never play with their radios because that is the only way they get to be happy when there isn't a fellow to conversate with.
