In the Ghanaian community and bringing it down to the Ewes, names are specifically given for different reasons. The main reason why names among this tribe are never taken for granted is that the names normally have a direct impact on the bearers. Names are given for a reason since they reflect or have an influence on the people to whom they are given. All names have meanings they represent and Ghanaian names and specifically Ewe names are not an exception.  You will be enlightened on some of these Ewe names and their various meanings. In fact, this article gives you an idea of what some Ewe names mean. Names are like organic components of the people per the people's beliefs.    We believe that individuals become the name they are given and for this reason, names are chosen carefully before being given to individuals. Some of the names are just given to show the day of the week a person is born whereas some show the circumstances around a person's birth. Below are some nam...

How to be economically independent as a student

Education series
school

A person who is a student at all levels of education can be successful in his or her educational pursuit only if certain requirements are fully met. Many are mostly deprived of very important necessities as students and largely give up their dreams because the road to getting hold of the dreams seems so rough and life-threatening. My own experience and those I witnessed of others have made me learn and adopt measures to improve academic concentration.

Globally, it has been researched and it is always said that knowledge deficiency is one of the major causes of poverty. Now, how does knowledge deficiency affect the economic lives of people such that their way of life becomes determined by it? Knowledge is such an important asset that without it a person acts in ignorance and easily becomes a victim of many painful life experiences.

In fact, this article seeks to be an eye-opener to you so that you as a student can make well-informed decisions and also be aware of the realities encountered each and every day in education pursuit of any kind.

Hard realities!
From an early age, children are taught and admonished to read books and especially storybooks in their leisure time since reading contributes a lot to their mental development and growth.

  • Education can be expensive at a point
Do you know why in most developing countries governments have put in strategies to make basic education free for all? The truth is that most developing countries have high rates of poverty and low literacy level so in order to improve the lives of people support has to be given to these young ones because the key to tomorrow's future lies in them. Really, if it is not so, the literacy levels will continue to be low and societies will not see steady development because knowledge brings about development. Everyone who wishes well for his or her ward must also have charge to be responsible for their academic needs. Despite the challenges, you must develop a positive attitude to keep your mind peaceful. • Problem-solving is the seed of education
Looking at the life of many successful individuals whom society can't forget reveals an important trait that makes them useful to the world. The real thing is that students should not think of getting a job after completion but the mindset should be what they can offer society after completion because this is what will make them successful or useful. Success from notable views has been talked of as being not only rich or wealthy but also being able to execute planned targets or goals. I was watching a documentary on DW(Deutsche Welle) and some young African youths were producing straws a particular grass after which the straws are packaged and sent to hotels and restaurants in the vicinity. The straws can be used more than once and discarded and even after they are thrown away, they will decompose as manure for the farm. Society is looking to reap the fruits of the knowledge acquired in education and the problem solvers will definitely not lack what they deserve in return. Think of how useful mobile phones have become today worldwide and the producers of these useful products will surely be well catered for because society badly needs what they produce.

  • Get a side job as a student
As a student climbs higher the academic ladder, the needs also increase with high margins, and without a steady income for the parents or even the students, life becomes hard and mental concentration loss becomes the next thing in line. Think of some jobs that do not require much to start and in your free time to get some income that has the potential of eroding over-dependency on others for support.
You can try freelancing on some notable sites like Designhill, Upwork, Fiver, etc. I must state that even freelancing can take a long time sometimes to get some income but all lies in determination and perseverance. Enter into deep realms of challenges facing society and think of how the problems can be solved. You might think of a means to solve the problems but lack the expertise; from there you can get help from professionals to take it into action. there are some periodically published opportunities for you to make known your innovative ideas and sometimes financial support is given if the ideas are worth it so why not watch out for these changes in newspapers or on the internet?

Every student must have a clear goal of what they want to be in the future for their academic life to be purpose-driven which will promote effectiveness. Anyone who chooses any program without a clear understanding or vision of their abilities and goals will just go through the system learning to only pass examinations and in the long run, nothing will be achieved. There is a lot that must be done on the part of all students if they are to be successful in life.
