Lipton has been in the market for years now and to talk about brand positioning and consistency, the product has been doing amazing to provide consumers the best. Packaging is a very crucial aspect of the production world such that there are a lot of considerations to be made to determine, the packaging material to use, the size, the primary package structure, the secondary package and even the tertiary packaging structure, packaging graphics aesthetics and a lot more. Lipton as I know it has a primary package, a secondary and a tertiary. How does all of these take shape?
The primary package is a special paper that stores and protects the tea leaves.
The secondary package is a box that contains a certain number of tea bags.
The tertiary is also a box that contains a number of secondary packages and this is what aids the transportation of the products.
I love Lipton and once in a while, I do purchase some for use and I must say it is very wonderful whether enjoying it as morning tea or even in the evening. Recently, purchased Lipton but realized that there has been an improved packaging of the product.
This post talks about some of the significant impact this new upgrade has added to the market appeal of the product. If you're a packaging student or a packaging enthusiast, there is a lot to learn and pay attention to as far as packaging design and branding are concerned to make sure products sell and do not fail when sent to the market.
What the former packaging looks like
The known form of the primary package is that it is a bag that contains the tea leaves with a thread and a Lipton tag at the tip that aids the tea preparation. This is how most people know the primary package to be. Retailers do sell the tea bags individually to people who want to buy and so if a customer is buying just a single bag, it is given to him or her. Event from when these bags were sold in this manner, it has always been a great packaging.
What the new package looks like
With the new packaging, the individual tea bags are put in a paper pouch that is branded with Lipton's identity. The yellow label is the identity. This kind of packaging offers a lot of excitement to customers. Let's explore some significance of this new upgrade to the consumers especially.
By the way what might have necessitated the new upgrade. Selling is not just about first impressions but staying consistent with what a brand stands for such that customers know the company as such is a key element of brand positioning. The value proposition of a firm is something they must stand for and work to always maintain so that brand loyalty is built among the consumers. Well, probably to improve and add to the market appeal of the product, ensure consumers feel more comfortable and excited using the product. In fact, when I bought the product with this new packaging, I actually bought a single one from a retail seller but I felt the product had been packaged so well that I was just stunned by the branding and the presentation.
What importance does it present to the consumer?
The quality of the product
Just a single tea bag packaged nicely in a sealed bag and an added brand pouch describe how the quality of the product would be perceived. Manufacturers consider the safety and value of the products made available to customers necessitating the action in packaging that, this quality should be easy to perceive by all.
Market appeal
This new upgrade is a very big step that has a high chance of inducing impulse buying and it is a great tool. The consistency in maintaining the brand identity and the presentation adds a lot to the market appeal which has a great influence in selling products.
Offer protection and easy handling
With this new upgrade, customers have no fear of the tea bag bursting in case of a little carelessness because the product has added protection.
