Some Senior High School(SOSEC) - Tso Nakle | Arise and shine

In the Volta Region, many secondary and technical schools are doing their very best to produce the best of students who become useful to mother Ghana. SOME SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL known in short as SOSEC or also called SOME SHS is located in Agbozume-Sukladzi in the Volta Region of Ghana. It is located along the Denu-Akatsi road just about a few minutes walk from the tarred road. The school has produced several professionals in many fields like health, banking, art, teaching, manufacturing and many more.

About SOME SHS in brief

The school was established as a private institution but was later adopted into the public school system many years back. The slogan or mantra of the school is ARISE AND SHINE. This translated into the local language Ewe is TSO NAKLE. It is a call on every one of her students to rise and shine wherever they are to uplift the good name of the school. The crest shows an illustration of a sun rising. It is a vivid depiction of what light does when it shows up in darkness and a call on the students as well.

This anthem was composed by one of the scholars this noble institution has produced and it depicts how important and pivotal the school is in the wholistic development of her students for future roles. At the school assembly, the students sing the anthem and then the Ghana National Pledge. 

As part of the school's vision to foster discipline and all-round learning, there are a lot of disciplinary measures put in place to ensure the right academic environment is created to enable teaching and learning.

FACILITIES

  • Dormitories
The school has a dormitory for both boys and girls to stay and learn in an environment of safety and love. Both dormitories are situated within the school premises and not even far from the classrooms.

  • A dining hall complex
There is now a newly built dining hall complex for the school. In the year 2020, the WASSCE was written there as it is very spacious. This facility is one that the school waited for many years and it was a great delight seeing this project completed and now helpful to the school.

  • Science Laboratories
There is a science laboratory which has been segregated into three, Biology lab, Chemistry lab and Physics lab. The labs are managed or looked after by teachers in the respective subjects who make sure pieces of equipment for studies are available to teach. There are still developments and improvements for enhanced performance in these areas.

  • Football pitch
A football pitch that is used by football clubs in the community tells how standard it is. When it is time for sporting activities, no worries about where to train as there exists a football park for such activities.
  • Administration block
This block contains other offices of which are the management of the school. 

SOME SHS at NSMQ 2022

The school has appeared on the prestigious National Science and Maths quiz for years but could not move so far in the contest even though they did well. The image above shows the school's appearance in the 2022 Regional Qualifiers but couldn't proceed to the next stage but there is hope of seeing her advance in subsequent competitions.

  • A well furbished library
The library has a lot of books to keep students engaged with educative content always. Occasionally, inter-houses, inter-school debate competitions are held which are very wonderful to witness.

Some of these courses have divisions due to the course options available. Every department is headed by a HEAD OF DEPARTMENT who makes sure everything pertaining to each programme thrives perfectly well.

These attributes are special attributions and they are unique in the making as they differ from one language to the other.
