Ademe soup is prepared using the leaves shown below which are of mainly two kinds and they are grown in backyard gardens, farms, etc. The ademe leaves in English is referred to as jute leaves. These plants when grown to a stage bear flowers which produce a pod that contains the seeds that are used to propagate the plants, the pods are allowed to grow up to maturity and dry after which the pods can be kept and the seeds inside which are very small are scattered on fertile land with enough moisture and then it germinates into the plants. It is only because of the leaves that these plants are grown because these leaves can sometimes be very expensive as they produce a very special soup.

Preparing the ademe soup or popularly known as ademe detsi
Get a bowl and wash the ademe leaves in it very well with plenty of water for two times and for the second time the leaves can be washed in a salt water. Have the washed leaves poured into a pot and add very small water to boil the leaves. After the it has started boiling for some time, get a ladle with which to whisk the leaves to ensure it attains a cohesive feel which is indicated by the slime that is produced. Put pepper, onion, ginger, garlic, tomatoes together and grind maybe with a blender and after which a soup has to be prepared.
Pour in some amount of palm oil in a saucepan and add sliced onions inside, add tomato paste and the ground pepper also, and fry for some time. Add the momone(known popularly as the smelling fish. The main purpose of adding the momone to the soup is to give it a special aroma and it also adds greatly to the special taste of the soup.) and continue to stir the stew to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the saucepan. Add salt, spices onga or maggi shrimp, smoked fish and crab. Continue to prepare the stew but some water can be added to the stew if it seems to have little water which will ensure the stew cooks well and the same way if the palm oil seems to be reduced, more has to be added. When the stew is well prepared, taste the stew to make sure everything is on point.
Now is the time to add the boiled ademe leaves to the stew and when it is added, stir thoroughly but gently to make sure it mixes properly and still allow the soup to boil very well for some 5 minutes. Taste the soup to be sure of how delicious it is and more fish or meat can be added depending on what is available. If all things are found to be exactly on point as they should be, lift the pot of the fire, and your soup is ready.
