KAKRO: It is a local name given to some of our food kinds that are normally made from different foodstuffs. Some of the food kinds used in making kakro are cassava, maize, plantain, banana.

Three reasons why it is essential to make kakro
Unlike some African countries that this type of food is common, it is not that really easy to come across and so anyone who has a mind of starting an SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) can take this up as a business. In a town, a young child went to school and learnt how to make kakro using banana and as he came back home, he taught the mother and from that day it has become a business for the household. Many young people have been employed who help to prepare the kakro and some go to different markets to sell this food. Seriously, some business ideas can be though of as trivial ideas but in fact these ideas might be the ones that will make great opportunities and impacts.
- Prevents spoilage of plantain
Anyone who has practiced farming before never allows food to go spoil because he or she knows the hardwork and toil that goes into farming. I saw a post on a social media where two different people were put into consideration. One person had a very balanced meal and after eating some of the food remained and he threw it away saying "I can't eat everything." The second person on the other hand was a rugged or poor kind or person and was searching a rubbish dump for thrown away foods to eat saying "I will eat anything". I know this is a very hard truth and a lot of people will find themselves guilty of this but do not be worried if you are one, just make amends of your actions and start doing things the right way. Do not contribute to famine but rather let your everyday activity be a contribution to food security for it takes a lot of hardwork to put food on the table.
For the first time, if you have not tasted a food like this before, it will be somehow but I tell you, after tasting it for the first time, you will love to always have it by you as it is very delicious and can even be served with some soft drinks. Some local foods really have got a lot of attractive features if it can be put that way, try them out and kakro plantain is one of them.
